WHAT THIS VIDEO SERIES TEACHES YOU ABOUT TRACKING

IDENTIFICATION OF SIGNS

You’ll learn to recognize evidence indicating that your manhunt target is in the area. You’ll also learn how to spot potential places where your target is likely to emerge—and those he’s probably planning to use as an escape route.

TARGET LOCATING

Watch how the pros use the “Follow the Last Definite Sign” protocol to pick up the trail of the target at his last-known place.

CLOSING IN & APPREHENDING

You identified, you located. Now it’s time to collar the suspect and bring him in. See the long arm of the law in action.

Part 1: Tracks Tell a Story

Lead tracker Boris receives a call about a disturbance involving multiple locals who ran from the scene and are now in the wind. In this episode, you’ll see the steps Boris takes to carefully record and then analyze the evidence left behind before he puts his team of tactical trackers on the trail of the suspects.

Part 2: Into the woods

The trail takes Boris’ team into an area of dense vegetation. The job of the lead tracker in a situation like this is to secure the front and, at the same time, analyze the trail on the ground. That poses a dilemma. In this installment, Boris demonstrates the solution by walking you through his five-step track-pursuit drill.

Part 3: Into The Mind of The Quarry

Signs now point to the entrance of a cave that twists and stretches far back. As they make their way deep into this cave system, the team discovers their suspects had built a fire and used it in an attempt to destroy evidence. In this part, Boris gleans insights from that discovery and makes a series of important deductions, then explains how he arrived at them.

Part 4: Hidden in plain sight

Boris and his team follow the trail to an open field. This new environment they’ve entered forces them to shift search tactics. The tactic of choice is a Y-formation search pattern—and it’s necessary because the change of environment has also changed the nature of the signs left behind by the suspects. In this episode, you’ll see how helpful the Y-formation pattern can be.

Part 5: The end of the track

Into an urban environment the suspects now disappear. In this part, Boris demonstrates how to pick up the scent within the confines of a town or city by using the “track trap” technique. You’ll see how this tactic makes it possible to track suspects passing through intersections as they flee along paved roads.
