The Hood/Harness® system is our design element that keeps the hood perfectly positioned on your head. Once you’ve got the Hood/Harness® system positioned with the hood it is always in place and ready to mount.
The result is completely unhindered views of your surroundings while at the same time shielding your eyes from falling rain and snow.
Locate the four Velcro®-covered straps attached to the flaps inside the Hood/Harness® hood and separate them.
Flip the Hood/Harness® onto your head and pull the bill down to about the middle of your forehead, to just above your ears, and midway to the back of your head. If it droops to your neck, tighten the straps and recheck the fit.
Adjust the two Velcro® straps at the rear of the harness to closely fit around your head, but not so close a fit that you have trouble taking off the hood or putting it back on.
Lift the four flaps on the Hood/Harness®.
Pull the hood over your head, feel around inside the hood to find its Velcro® straps, grasp the straps, and press them onto the flaps of the Hood/Harness®.
Finely adjust the connection of the four Hood/Harness® flaps and the hood’s Velcro® straps. If you skipped optional steps 4 and 5, align the harness’s bill and the hood’s visor, then connect the straps and flaps.
Lay the jacket on a flat surface. Spread out both the hood with the Hood/Harness®, then release the cords on each side of the hood and the collar. Straighten the hood’s visor (its stiffness comes from a bendable wire sewn into it).
Fold the Hood/Harness® along its length and align the hood visor with the harness bill.
Smoothen the fabric and fold the hood in half in the direction of the collar.
Fold the hood once more, just as you did in the previous step. Make sure none of the Velcro® straps are rolled up within as you proceed.
Starting at the base of the collar, fold the hood into the collar. Push the ends of the hood into each end of the collar.
Now use your hand to smooth the hood along the entire length of the collar. Pull the flaps over and fasten the buttons on each side of the collar.
A good quality hood adds more functionality compared to a cap. How? By providing more heating efficiency. And, when constructed in combination with materials that protect against rain and wind, it will also provide excellent body vapour management and amplified heat on cold days.
A hood covers not only your head but also your neck, so the cold can’t penetrate.
Rain won’t get on your face or in your eyes if you’re wearing a stiffened peak hood over the firm bill of the Hood/Harness® system.
A hood lets you move lighter since it frees you from the need to carry an extra piece of clothing (i.e., a cap). It also frees you from the worry of losing your head protection, either because you misplaced it or the wind blew it away.
We developed the integrated Hood/Harness® system specifically to keep the hood in place so that no matter which way you turn your head the hood follows it precisely.
No more fiddling with head protection positioning in order to see where you’re going. Our hooded jackets with the integrated Hood/Harness® system enable the hood to precisely follow your head as it turns, tilts, and cranes so you can keep your line of sight clear at all times.
Our jackets with hood plus integrated Hood/Harness® system give you the confidence—and comfort—you need when conducting direct action tasks in cold or stormy weather.
