Pro’s Guide to Urban Survival

Cities are great, until they’re not. When power fails, crowds form, and movement becomes restricted, survival depends on how quickly you can leave danger behind.

This three-part series with Kevin Estela covers the entire process: when to leave, how to move unseen through the city, how to handle exposure once you reach open ground, and how to secure water, heat, and supplies for off-grid sustainment.

What You’ll Discover

Bug-Out Decision Making

How to read early warning signs, pick the right moment to leave, choose a safe direction, and avoid crowds, chokepoints, and predictable routes.

Movement and Concealment

Watch the episodes

Episode 1:
How to Escape When the City Turns Hostile

When sirens echo and crowds gather, hesitation becomes a liability. Kevin breaks down how to identify the early signs of a failing city and the mindset needed to leave before conditions deteriorate.

Episode 2:
Surviving the Journey Across Open Terrain

Once you’ve cleared the city, the threats change. Exposure, heat, open terrain, and fatigue become the new adversaries. Kevin demonstrates how to use shade, terrain masking, and transition zones to stay concealed and conserve energy.

Episode 3:
Surviving Off-Grid Once You Are Alone

Movement gets you out but sustainment keeps you alive. In the final part of the series, Kevin constructs a fully camouflaged ranger-style tarp shelter using only trash bags and natural materials. He demonstrates water sourcing and purification methods, builds a low-signature alcohol stove, and explains how to establish hidden caches for later retrieval.
